June 27 at 10 am
The St. Mary’s River Watershed Association (SMRWA)’s annual members’ meeting will be held on Saturday, June 27, at 10 am at the Ruddy Duck Seafood and Alehouse on St. George Island. As we celebrate our oyster restoration successes in the St. Mary’s River, a new opportunity has emerged to formally expand our efforts to Breton Bay.
We’ve been partnering with and advising Friends of St. Clements Bay since their founding in 2017 and have worked together to plant over 4.6 million oysters in Breton Bay. We conducted two surveys last year on the progress so far. Friends of St. Clements Bay is closing its doors at the end of this year, and they have asked us to step up to continue the oyster restoration in Breton Bay. Formally expanding our reach to Breton Bay would mean amending our mission, and we believe our members should be a part of that discussion. Please join us to help guide our next steps and ensure we do what’s best for our community.
We will also have nominations and elections for the Board of Directors.
Light refreshments will be served. This meeting is open to current and prospective SMRWA members.
