St. Mary's River Watershed Association, Inc., Post Office Box 94, St. Mary's City, MD 20686 emmasmrwa@gmail.com
As a small organization, we rely heavily on volunteers. There are many opportunities to volunteer depending on your interests.
We’re collaborating with the St. Mary’s River Yacht Club (SMRYC) to monitor water quality throughout the St. Mary’s River. SMRWA uses these data track the St. Mary's River's "dead zones" and to evaluate the sanctuary’s effect on the public oyster fishery. Dead zones are areas of no or low oxygen where oysters and other organisms cannot survive.
If you want to contribute to this collaboration, spend more time on the water, and learn about water quality monitoring techniques, please email Emma Green at emma@SMRWA.org. Please note, sampling typically occurs during the week (Monday through Friday).
Committees are where the work of our organization takes place. You’ll help plan events, brainstorm new ideas, and execute our strategic plan. Most of our committees meet bimonthly virtually. Please reach out to the following committee leaders based on your interest.
We always need help filing, stuffing envelopes, writing newsletters, researching issues, etc. Please email Emma at emma@smrwa.org if you can help!
